Each session is 50 minutes.
This really does vary on each client and their needs. A review will be carried out every 6 weeks together so we can look at the work we are doing, if you're happy with the service. There is also a chance for you to suggest how the sessions could be improved, or if there is a different way in which you would like to explore your thoughts / feelings.
I understand that you're bound to be nervous before our first session and that's completely normal. The first session we will spend about 15 / 20 minutes going through the contract that I would have sent you / carer out prior to the session. We will go through the contract together and you can ask me any questions you may have.
No, I don't make notes as you talk. Notes are made after each session by myself but not during.
After each session, I will make notes about what was discussed during the session. All notes are securely stored. Your name is not on the notes and are kept separately from the contract I have with you. I assign each client a code so confidentiality is maintained at all times.
You can request your notes if you wish. I ask for a written request from yourself. Notes will be available within thirty days of your request.
A judge or a coroner can request notes.
I have the right to refuse a request to anyone else.
I keep session notes for five years.
Yes. Everything you say will be confidential. However there may be times where I may have to break confidentiality. This would be:
If there was a safeguarding concern.
There was a serious risk of harm to you or others.
If a serious crime had been committed - for example drug trafficking, money laundering, terrorist crime.
Once a month I undertake supervision. This is a requirement that all therapists must adhere to under their ethical framework. Supervision ensures not only am I practising in a safe and ethical way but that I am taking responsibility for my own self care needs.
During supervision you identity is not revealed but sessions maybe discussed with my supervisor. The purpose of supervision is to enhance my practice through careful reflection, feedback and support. My work is presented to my supervisor who is also a trained therapist.
If you can't make a scheduled appointment it's best to let me know as soon as possible. There are times where situations or circumstances can't be helped.
If you could give me at least 48 hours notice ( via message or email) if you can't make an appointment then we can look at rescheduling.
